10 Year Anniversary

I have never had an anniversary that was as emotional as this one was. We knew that this was a big year and so we wanted to go on a big trip, but as Rhiannyn is still pretty little we thought we would take a week trip to Cancun next spring without the kids and just spend a small weekend away this year. We had plans to go to Park City, but I ended up in Phoenix instead. So when our anniversary rolled around we didn't have much plans other than dinner and a movie, thinking that we would make up for it later. The night before our anniversary, we got into a fight about money and I spend most of our anniversary working on getting angrier and angrier. I apparently am getting better at fighting with my husband. I guess that ten years of practice must be paying off. We rarely fight and when we do we never yell. It is more of a time where we tell each other what is bothering us and we are usually able to get to the bottom of whatever is wrong, look at the other person's point of view, and resolve or differences or shelf the argument for another day. I think that this is probably the first time that we had had a full on yelling fight. After spending all day working on getting mad, I cancelled the babysitter and Wyatt came home expecting to spend a romantic evening with his wife. His wife was on her way out the door to spend some quality time enjoying her anniversary without her husband! It is really funny now, but it wasn't so much at the time. I am really big on celebrating holidays, birthdays, and anniversaries and was twice as upset that he had ruined my holiday than at anything he had done. In truth, most of the things that he was angry about were my fault. I am sure that it would be hard to not feel ignored when your family spent most of the last two months away from home. In the end, we ended up ordering out, turning on a movie for the kids and having a home picnic together. It was a great night, if an eventful afternoon. I have to admit that it was more fun that way than it would have been if I had gone out by myself.

I love Wyatt and I am grateful for all the things that he does every day to make my life easier. I could not have asked for a better companion and love. I am grateful for the last ten years and am looking forward to a lifetime of love, life, and laughter.
